Jeremy Clarkson takes the seven-litre monster that is the Corvette Z06 onto the Top Gear track. And while its no Ferrari, it does manage to set a seriously impressive time when its handed over to the the Stig. now y do u brits and every1 else have a problem with our american cars? sure we may not have the best cars in the world but we dont have the worst. every1 else always says we cant make cars but jeremy clarkson loved the ford GT and the Corvette ZR1 and hammond has a mustang so we cant be terrible at making cars.

@elr456 It’s true, the lap times are better, but to be fair and to make a comparison, it would have to be on the same day at the same time. As you probably know, in Britain rains a lot and wet; semi-wet and dry track are completely different things, therefore differences on a few seconds doesn’t mean much. (Did you saw the zonda and murcielago laps? )
In any case the z06 is a great car for tracks
@alex14469 Yes, you got a point there. I wouldn’t want the ariel atom as an everyday car. But would love to have it for trackdays, as a personal opinion I refuse to take my everyday car to trackdays, on such occasions I prefer to rent some hatchback (mini cooper, clio rs, 206 rs . . . ).
Not sure about security, as it seams to have a tubular monocoque cockpit, not very different from F1 cars. but wouldn’t hurt to have an airbag or 2
I like how hes complaining about it being able to find a burger and he’s sitting there with a huge gut.

@xfastV8 I had a feeling someone would point that out and its true. But again, you get what you pay for, Ariel is cheaper and faster than a Corvette on the track but its a go cart with a powerful engine, they achieve that performance by removing absolutely everything. (I sure hope nobody crashes in one of those). Yes, technically its a car but you cannot compare it to “Normal cars”. And as bad as Corvette is on the road (according to Top Gear) its much better than an Atom as an everyday car.
@alex14469 In a track, faster than the corvette and cheaper ? You have the ariel atom. Track time was 1:19:05 . . . engine is a 2. 0 litters supercharged iVTEC with around 300hp . . . although the car is made in britain

Clarkson and co. are idiots. Sometimes they are right. Mostly they’re wrong. What they would pay for these cars as regular folks and what we pay in North America are two different things.
Don’t listen to them. Just enjoy their histrionics and realize that they were war babies. The generation that was after WW2. They don’t get it. It’s hard to apologize for your country when you screwed up its car industry and the Germans and Americans have to make everything for you.
8:46 That was a cool fly-by. Who cares if the ZO6 uses some cheaper materials. The Corvette gets the job done. And it was quicker than the Pagani Zonda, Murcielago, Ferrari 430, and if I’m not mistaken I see Koenigsegg below the ZO6. Ha!
