I saw a picture of the proposed new shape Mondeo in a UK motoring magazine today. It looked absolutely lovely in blue. The shape was slightly more like a coupe than the present one; but it will still be a four door 5 seater saloon.

Looks like Volvo S60 a bit. But still, looks awesome. North America wants it!

@erikavant that is exactly what I said when we had one for a few weeks. We live in England but I’ve spent plenty of time in the States and I really think Americans would eat this car up. It’s big, has a good interior, good economical engine and decent performance. And definitely looks better than the Focus.

will Ford ever redeem themselves from the utter shit they have been manufacturing for the past 12 years ?

We’ve got the European Fiesta and next year we’ll get the new European Focus, so Ford wants to give us the good stuff as long as they know we’re ready. But even both of those cars have had to be downgraded in interior materials to fit the price points that we are willing to buy them at. They are both still brilliant cars though and the Focus, like the Fiesta, will be excellent to drive. I’m guessing the next Fusion will be Mondeo-esque.

@erikavant Europeans pay more for a FWD sedan than American’s are willing to pay for the same. Especially with Ford’s bad reputation. For that reason if they import this car or make the same one here, they’ll have to downgrade the materials and lessen the standard equipment. Sales still won’t be stellar because people won’t realize it’s a Euro-engineered car. For now they are doing it right by giving us a better Fusion and in time when American’s believe in Ford again they’ll give us these.

why is it that the RS and this mondeo aren’t available to us in the states. it seems like ford would be very successful if they started putting out strong vehicles like this around here

    I’m a Fordie, I drive a Probe.

In my opinion the Mondeo is the best looking of the current European Fords. The Fiesta comes in at a close second. Favourite colour for the Mondeo is either sandalwood (green) or black.

    Ford Mondeo 2010
Perfect, its very perfect in driving on the roads, very perfect lights,
and so perfect interior and exterior.
2010, and as its Titanium X, within 2. 5T, and Silver color.
    = The greatest (mid-car) ever.

Has no one realized it’s a rebadged Volvo s60? So much for auto journalism.

Not quite. . . The Fusion and Mondeo share the same platform (not this one only last generation). The Ford Taurus doesn’t share the mondeo’s platform and was desgined by Earl Lucas of Ford USA. Although the taurus has a “european” look it really isn’t realated to the mondeo other then they’re both ford.

Is this Ford’s global platform that shares the american ford Fusion and last generation Mazda 6?
